Walk In Our Shoes

Can you imagine how the first heels looked like, girls?

They almost looked like this.

"It has been commonly stated that the first instance of the wear of high heels involved the 1533 marriage between Catherine de' Mediciwith the Duke of Orleans. She wore heels made in Florence for her wedding, and as a result, Italian high heels became the norm for ladies of the Duke's court in France."Source: Wikipedia
As the female presence in the workplace grew in the last few decades of the 20th century, so too did their heels. In the early seventies, platform shoes and wedges were popular among women, though they became less-so in the eighties and nineties. Men’s shoe trends, however, were markedly static, as oxfords and loafers remained the dominant style.

These days, there are shoes for every occasion, mood, and preference. There has also been a movement away from styles that focus primarily on comfort and function, as many designers are shifting interest from a matter of practicality to that of aesthetics. Celebrities like Lady Gaga have introduced the world to footwear that’s more art and armadillo than it is clothing. If footwear trends continue in this fashion, we can expect the shoes of the future to be even more out-of-this-world.

You can see how heels completely evolved into this. I, sometimes, wonder how women in our society despite of being subjected to so much social tensions manage to wear such a difficult footwear. But then again, we know what women are capable of.

Onthemill celebrates women's never giving up ability and their ability to bravely answer whatever questions society asks them.

You may say that onthemill celebrates every time.

"Celebrate everything, life is too short to look for a reason."
